 Chipside project management
why employ a project manager?
"If a project is to succeed, it needs management far earlier than ever before. I have found projects worth hundreds of thousands of pounds proceeding without even the most basic idea of specification or goals." says Paul Moorby, chipside’s MD.

"It is projects like these that have little chance of long term success". he adds.

If your team is at full stretch, the Chipside team can bring extra resource for the period involved at a cost comparable to in-house staff.
what will a chipside project manager do?
Chipside don't believe in jargon. Every project is different but some core themes seem to be common to all.

We can help to:
  • specify the goals (targets, needs)
  • identify resources (people, money)
  • evaluate the solution (the system)
  • control the delivery (time, quality, costs)
  • manage the unforeseen (risk)
  • check and sign off against goals

 Our project phases
project concept
This very early phase involves our team meeting with the project sponsors and agreeing the project objectives, in very general terms.

Research may be required and formal reports prepared as to project feasibility.

Our team will prepare a report for the project sponsors. The exact report depends on the detail required but may include drafts budgets, timelines and resources.

The project may be scrapped at this point or proceed to the inception phase.
project inception
This phase involves the assembling of the project resources.

It may include preparation of bills of quantities, specifications, tender documents, contract terms and the impartial assessment of interested suppliers or technologies.

This phase ends with a properly documented project and all required appointments and contract awards made.
project implementation
This phase controls the actual delivery of the project objectives.

It will include progress meetings, action plans, contract variations, quality assessments and remedial actions.

The project will reach ‘go-live stage’ and ongoing performance will be monitored against specification.
project post implementation
This phase happens after the project has gone live.

It will include monitoring, delivery of post-live objectives and full review of the lessons learned.

Once the project is assessed as complete, the sign-off certificate will be handed over to the relevant people.
